Makerere University Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics in collaboration with University of Liverpool received funding from the UK Medical Research Council to build research capacity in the discipline of Drug Safety Science in Uganda. This project seeks to develop a robust research program to strengthen local capacity to identify and address the challenges of drug utilization and safety and promote translation of research findings into policy and practice. Research modalities span the biomedical, clinical, epidemiological, social sciences, implementation science and policy-related disciplines. In particular, the project will prioritize the fields of pharmacovigilance, pharmacoepidemiology, clinical pharmacology, pharmacogenomics and clinical disciplines within the realm of medicine use and safety. Position summary
Research Assistants will help to conduct a clinical study that enrols and follows up people living with HIV on antiretroviral therapy.

Key Duties:
  *   Recruit and consent study participants.
  *   Conduct structured interviews and follow-up visits.
  *   Draw blood and collect other study samples.
  *   Ensure proper documentation, data entry, and confidentiality.
  *   Collaborate with health facility staff and maintain high ethical standards.

Qualifications:
  *   Diploma in Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Clinical Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Technology, or related field.
  *   Valid practicing license from the relevant professional council.
  *   Competence in phlebotomy is essential.
  *   Experience in clinical research or HIV programs is an added advantage.
  *   Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  *   Ability to use electronic data capture tools is desirable.
  *   Fluency in English and at least one local language.
