The Makerere University College of Health Sciences community extends deep congratulations to Prof. David Serwadda, Prof. Nelson K. Sewankambo, and Prof. Moses Galukande, upon their recognition as icons of health and academia and receiving the Heroes in Health (HIHA) Excellence in Health Academia Award given at the 2025 Africa Health Summit. HIHA2025 recognised the trio for their lifelong dedication to strengthening health systems, advancing groundbreaking research, shaping national policy, and training generations of public health leaders. Their work has elevated not only Makerere University but also the entire health sector in Uganda and beyond, and their example continues to instill excellence, curiosity, and service in all of us.
