Makerere University College of Health Sciences marks 100 years | Celebrating a Century of Excellence, Visualising the Future

Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MakCHS) formerly the School of Medicine is celebrating 100 years (1924 - 2024) of health professionals' education and training. The theme of the celebrations is ‘Celebrating a Century of Excellence, Visualising the Future'.

An Alumni Dinner is scheduled to take place on December 12, 2025, in Freedom Square, Makerere University Main Campus. The dinner also marks launch of a fundraiser to support the Renovation of Infrastructure at MakCHS, Mulago Hill. Come and make merry with your friends, classmates, and colleagues. Multiple activities have been held through the year including: Public Lecture by Prof. D’Arbela and Prof. Opoka on the History of the College in October 2024 which marked launch of the celebrations; a Public Dialogue themed 'The current state and future of Health Professions' training in Uganda' held in July 2025; MakCHS Centennial Run in October 2025.
