CALL FOR APPLICANTS TO ATTEND INFORMATION LITERACY CROSS-CUTTING SESSIONS FOR DOCTORAL STUDENTS AT MAKERERE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

To all MAKCHS Doctoral students and researchers that did not apply for the Library training that will take place in the Ph.D. Lounge conference room on Friday 17th and Monday 20th March 2023, the session will be repeated on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 March 2023, starting from 9 AM. Those who applied for the first session (17-20 March) and were not contacted by email, will be added to the second session (23-24 March). The room can only take 25 at a time. Please note the following requirement for all the applicants for both sessions:

  1. A laptop installed with a licensed EndNote and Plagiarism Detector. These can be installed in the Library prior to the sessions
  2. Have your topics ready – we shall use them for practical sessions in database searching and referencing.

The following sessions will be covered:

  1. Literature searching from various scholarly databases
  2. Referencing and citation using the EndNote program
  3. Self-archiving of research output in the Institutional Repository (MakIR)
  4. Presentation of research findings using PPT
  5. Plagiarism and generation of plagiarism reports using the Plagiarism Detector, and interpretation of the reports
