Rose Chalo Nabirye, PhD, MPH, ADHSM, RN/M is a Lecturer and Chair of the Department of Nursing, School of Health Sciences, College of Health Sciences, Makerere University Kampala. Rose got her PhD (Nursing- Promoting, Protecting and Restoring Health) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) USA, in May 2010 and earned her MPH from Makerere University in 1999. She actively participated in development of the curriculum for Master of Nursing (Midwifery and Women's Health) program which started running in 2011/2012 academic year. Currently, she is the coordinator of the Regional Master of nursing program which was started in collaboration with Bergen University College Norway, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Tanzania and University of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and funded by Norad's Program for Master Studies (NOMA). Rose also served as Project Manager in Masaka District Uganda for a World Bank funded Project, The Uganda Nutrition and Early Childhood Development Project for four years (2000-2003); a project which gave her a lot of experience in working with communities, before joining Makerere University in 2003. Rose has over 20 years' experience as a clinical Nurse/Midwife.. She has also provided consultancy services for African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF), Uganda Program for Human and Holistic Development (UPHOLD) and Uganda National Association for Community and Occupational Health (UNACOH) to conduct community surveys and community trainings in various areas such as HIV/AIDS, Child Health and Nutrition and Hygiene and Sanitation. Rose's research interest area is Health Systems and Human Resources for Health Management and Community Health.
