Rose Alenyo

Rose Alenyo is a lecturer at the College of Health Sciences Makerere University and Chair of Training Division Plastic and Burns Surgery. Rose’s interests are Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery, Emergency Burns and Reconstruction, Cosmetic and Breast Reconstruction Surgery. She has devoted more than 18 years in cleft lip and palate care in the country and also training cleft surgeons. She has worked with smile train on cleft lip and palate management for 10 years, is an International Scholar nominee 2 years in a row 2019 and 2020 eventually achieved the 2020 award. Rose is an active member of Associations of Surgeons of Uganda, member Court of Examiners, and Panel Head Plastic Surgery College of surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA), Member of American Plastic Surgeons, Member American cleft palate Craniofacial Association and also member Association of Breast Surgery of England. She has received a research grant for KAP study on the use of PEP in HIV 2010 and current grant on Use of Stem cell transplant in the treatment of alveolar cleft a research to develop towards a PHD award. She trained in MBChB from Mbarara University of Science and Technology in 1997, has a M.Med Surgery Makerere University 2002, Fellow Plastic Surgery 2009 COSECSA and received the Rhema Dawood award for best Plastic Surgery Student.
