Moses R. Kamya

Moses R. Kamya, MBChB, MMed, MPH, PhD. is a Professor of Medicine and currently the Chair of the Department of Medicine at Makerere University College of Health Sciences in Kampala, Uganda. He formally trained in internal medicine at Makerere University (1991) and in Epidemiology at the University of California, Berkeley and has a PhD in Biomedical sciences from the University of Antwerp, Belgium. He has been conducting research on malaria and HIV and the interactions between the two infections for over 20 years and has over 120 publications largely in this field. Currently, he serves Principal Investigator or Co-PI on multiple malaria and HIV projects. One of the projects aims to assess the role of HIV-1 protease inhibitors in the prevention of malaria. He serves as an editor of the Uganda antiretroviral therapy (ART) clinical guidelines and currently chairs the Ministry of Health adult ART management sub-committee.
