MakCHS Annual Report 2025

It is an honour to present the 2025 Annual Report, highlighting a year of growth, academic distinction, and achievement for our college.

As an institution of higher learning, our core mandate remains steadfast: driving excellence in teaching and learning, advancing research, and fostering meaningful community engagement. We are deeply committed to ensuring that our academic and research endeavours are directly aligned with solving the pressing, complex health challenges facing communities in Uganda. Through evidence-based research and innovation alongside community outreach, our staff and students continue to touch lives and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The year 2025 was especially historic as we celebrated a remarkable milestone: 100 years of excellence in health professions education Uganda and beyond. To commemorate our Centenary, the college hosted a series of vibrant activities throughout the year that brought together our staff, students, alumni, and partners. Highlights of these celebrations included: An inspiring Centenary Exhibition showcasing decades of transformative research, academic achievements, and community impact; the energizing MakCHS100 Run, which united our vibrant university community, alumni, and partners in support of college initiatives; and a memorable Alumni Dinner, celebrating the invaluable contributions and lifelong support of our cherished graduates across the globe.

Alongside these celebrations, 2025 was a year of outstanding academic productivity and recognition. Our faculty and researchers achieved a significant increase in research publications, further solidifying our stature as a hub of scholarship and innovation. We also proudly celebrated numerous members of our staff who received national and global recognitions for their work and leadership in their respective fields. Furthermore, we expanded academic career pathways through the launch of exciting new fellowship programs, designed to nurture the next generation of clinicians, scholars and research leaders.

Beyond these milestones, we continued to expand our global and regional footprint. The college significantly enhanced its strategic partnerships and institutional collaborations, resulting in a marked increase in international mobility for both our staff and students. These opportunities have fostered rich cross-cultural exchanges, joint research initiatives, and valuable global exposure.

As we step confidently into our second century, we remain steadfast in our dedication to nurturing leaders and generating innovative solutions for tomorrow’s challenges. I extend my sincere gratitude to our dedicated faculty, administrative staff, students, alumni, University management, and partners whose support has made our achievements possible.Together, we forge ahead into a new era of extraordinary promise.
