This September 2026, our very own Prof. Alison Kinengyere launches book titled: Supporting Systematic Reviews and Other Evidence Synthesis Methodologies: A Librarian’s Toolkit. The launch was graced by Prof. Robert Wamala, the Director, Directorate of Research and Graduate Training  Makerere University, and Prof. Bruce Kirennga, Principal, College of Health Sciences, Makerere University. This book is a practical guide designed primarily for librarians and information specialists who support researchers in conducting systematic reviews and other evidence syntheses. Prof Kinengyere has supported skills development in identifying evidence for policy research teams at Makerere University and globally for over two decades now. She is a founding member of the Africa Center for Systematic Reviews and Knowledge Translation at MakCHS. This book provides step-by-step guidance on formulating review questions, developing comprehensive search strategies, searching bibliographic databases and grey literature, managing search results and data, and documenting search methods. The book strengthens librarians’ and information specialists’ capacity to provide effective evidence synthesis support services, collaborate with research teams, and promote rigorous, transparent, and reproducible research. The toolkit is a valuable resource for building and strengthening evidence synthesis services in academic, health sciences, and research libraries.
