Paul Okeny Kalanda was born and bred in a deprived region in the North East of Uganda whence he did his pre-tertiary schooling. He is a minimalist who loves the outdoors and is a Liverpool FC fun! He completed his primary medical degree (MBChB) in 2007 at Mbarara University, Postgraduate training (M. Med Surgery) in 2014 at Makerere University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education in 2019 from the University of Dundee, Scotland. He is a COSECSA Fellow. Prior to joining the department, Paul worked in the NHS – UK as a Specialist Surgical Registrar initially under the International Surgical Training Program before being formally employed.
