Dr. Irene Rebecca Namatende is the quality assurance officer, College of Health Sciences, Makerere University. She brings on board 17 years of experience in Quality Assurance, 10 in the QA Directorate and 07, at the College of Health Sciences, Makerere University, Irene holds a PhD in Educational Management from the East African School of Higher Education Studies and Development, Makerere University (CEES).
Irene’s PhD research work focused on the evaluation of the external examination of the PhD thesis at Makerere University. The study covered the practices and processes involved in the management of EE in higher education, academic examination practices and institutional quality assurance framework.
Dr. Irene is a respected QA specialist and she is actively involved in benchmarks and monitoring of university quality assurance systems. She is also involved in the institutional collaborations locally and internationally. She additionally supports graduate training programmes at the College of Health Sciences.
Irene is a professional QA specialist, she attained a certificate in IQAA International Quality Assurance Programme from the Regent's University United Kingdom (2025), additionally trained in QA at Bindura University of Science & 
Technology in -2018 (Zimbabwe)., followed by a contact leave training at QA & Student Support Unit at Amsterdam Medical Centre (AMC) Europe -2017-2018. A research Management and Leadership Program (Certificate) at George Mason University (USA-2019). Followed by a Masters in Management and a Post Graduate Diploma from Uganda Management Institute. (UMI). And a Bachelor of Arts Degree (German. Botany & Zoology) from Makerere University.
