The College of Health Sciences (MakCHS) successfully concluded their Covid-19 Vaccination Week held from the 9th to 12th November 2021. A total of 536 people were vaccinated including 392 getting their first shot while 144 got their second shot. The activity was organised by MakCHS leadership to reach students and staff that had not been vaccinated.
A team was constituted to organize the activity chaired by Prof. Damalie Nakanjako -Principal, MakCHS and members included Prof. Josephat Byamugisha – Director, Makerere University Health Services, Assoc. Prof. Isaac Kajja – Deputy Principal, MakCHS and Assoc. Prof. Annettee Nakimuli – Dean, School of Medicine, MakCHS.
Appreciation is extended to the vaccination team from Makerere University Hospital, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Department of Paediatrics and Child Health - Adolescent Care). To date Makerere University Hospital has vaccinated 27,645 individuals and vaccines remain available for all staff and students who have not yet received their jab.
Special thanks to the Government of Uganda and Ministry of Health for making vaccines available at Makerere University. The Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education & Sports are collaborating with institutions of learning to quickly reach the 350,000 learners in post primary institutions and staff.
