CLINICAL ETHICS-: PROFESSIONALISM 7th September 2016

Background

The Bioethics Training program at Makerere University College of Health Sciences aims at producing trainees who will show leadership and significant contribution to improving standards and practice of clinical ethics to protect the safety and welfare of research participants and patients. The program offers three levels of training which include Masters, Post graduate Diploma and short courses. The short courses include Clinical Ethics (Professionalism) which runs for one day.  The Clinical Ethics course is one of the short courses that introduce trainees to a framework that involves application of established scientific, professional norms and ethical principles in the performance of all activities related to clinical research and clinical care.

 

Course objectives

By the end of the course trainees should be able to:

1. Discuss ethical Issues related to Healthcare provider-patient interactions

2. Discuss the principles of ethics and their application to the clinical setting

3. Identify and address ethical issues related to patient care.

4. Demonstrate appropriate behavior and skills to address ethical issues

Target group

The Clinical ethics  course is targeted atDoctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Laboratory technicians/technologist, ClinicalResearchers, clinical psychologist, Radiographers, Study coordinators of clinical research, Research assistants(clinical research) and all otherClinicians.

Certificates will only be awarded to participants with at least 80% attendance.

 

Course fee: 50,000 or 15 USD to cater for participant’s meals and refreshments.
