Greetings from Makerere Research and Innovations Fund!
We trust that you are in good health.
We wish to invite you to the research and innovation outputs that our researchers have produced using funding from the Makerere University Research and Innovations Fund, the special funding stream from the Government of Uganda to support the generation and translation of high impact Research and Innovations to drive Uganda’s Development Agenda.
The three objectives of the fund include;
1. To develop and fund a robust research agenda based on National development priorities identified from academia, government, implementing partners, and industries.
2. To support the dissemination of high-quality research and innovations in a way that impacts development policies and programs
3. To support the growth of research leadership capacity in the university
Since FY 2019/20, the fund has supported 587 multidisciplinary research and innovation projects across the various colleges. The College of Health Sciences has obtained 174 grants across the two financial years. It is upon this background that the Mak-RIF office in collaboration with Makerere University College of Health Sciences (CHS) is organizing an Open Day to showcase some of the outputs that have arisen from the different research and innovation projects in line with objective 2 of the Fund to which you are invited.
We will host 39 projects on May 25th, 2021 with a few stakeholders participating physically at the exhibition at College of Health Sciences Deans Gardens and presentations at the Davis Lecture Theatre and more participants joining in virtually. It will be a half-day event from 8 am to 1 pm. Your participation in this event as an important stakeholder will be of value-add, given all the efforts towards steering Makerere University to be a research-led institution.
Kindly confirm your attendance at the event and should you wish to attend online, kindly register on the following link http://rif.mak.ac.ug/chs-openday. Find attached a brief program for the day.
You could share this widely with others.
We look forward to your participation.
