Catherine L Mwesigwa

Catherine L Mwesigwa is a lecturer in the Department of Dentistry, College of Health Sciences, Makerere University-Kampala. She graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) at Makerere University Faculty of Medicine in 2006, a Master in Dental Public and Primary Health (UWA, 2017) and an MSc Human Anatomy (Mak, 2018). She is currently a PhD Fellow (Dental Public Health) at the University of Western Cape. She is a dental public health specialist with expertise in dental research methods, dental epidemiology, oral health promotion, and planning. She also has training in Project Management in Global Health, which emphasizes research relevant to the low-resource settings, considers the service delivery context with its unique challenges, solutions which are cost-effective and affordable so as to maximize the limited resources. She has fellowship training in health professions’ education principles, research scholarship, and leadership in education. She is currently involved in several research projects including HIV and oral health research with a specific focus on the integration of oral health in paediatric HIV care, dental workforce planning, and commercial complementary foods for infants in Uganda.
