Adoke Yeka

Dr. Adoke Yeka is currently an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health, School of Public Health, College of Health Sciences, Makerere University-Kampala. He trained as a Medical Doctor (MBChB) from Makerere University, Uganda in 1994. He later did his Master of Public Health (MPH) at Makerere University School of Public Health in 2001. Aloysius Mutebi

Aloysius Mutebi is currently a Research Fellow/Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Health Policy Planning and Management, School of Public Health, College of Health Sciences, Makerere University-Kampala. He trained as a Statistician from Makerere University, Uganda in 1996. He later did a Post Graduate Diploma in Development Planning Techniques with computer applications at the Institute of Social Studies, Netherlands in 1999. Catherine Abbo

Catherine Abbo is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, and Makerere University-Kampala. She trained as a Medical Doctor (MBChB) and later did her Master of Medicine in Psychiatry from Makerere University, Uganda in 1998 and 2003 respectively. She obtained her PhD in Psychiatry from Karolinska Institutet, Sweden in 2009. Her research focus was on mental health and traditional healing practices. David Lubogo

Dr. David Lubogo (MBChB, MPH) is Research Fellow in the Department of Community Health and Behavioural Sciences. He joined Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) at the College of Health sciences in August 2010, to support the Masters of Public Health Nutrition Programme. He is the field coordinator for the MPHN programme. Before joining MakSPH, he worked as a Medical Officer in Ngora Hospital, Kumi district and then Kiboga district hospital. David Meya

David Meya is an Infectious Disease physician and lecturer in the department of Medicine at the College of Health Sciences. David trained at the Makerere Medical School attaining his Masters in Internal Medicine degree in 2005. He is currently a THRiVE PhD fellow at the college of Health Sciences in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is a lead investigator on clinical research projects related to HIV-related Meningitis with additional interest in Sepsis research. Dickens Akena

Dr Dickens Akena is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, Makerere University-Kampala. He trained as a Medical Doctor (MBChB) from Makerere University, Uganda 1998-2003. He later did his Master of Medicine in Psychiatry (M.Med Psych) at Makerere University-Kampala 2005-2008. Doris Kwesiga

Ms. Doris Kwesiga who was appointed Assistant Lecturer. Ms.Kwesiga was one of the members of the pioneer MHSR Class and graduated in January 2011 with a Master of Health Services Research degree. She also holds a BachelorÔÇÖs degree in Social Work and Social Administration, attained from Makerere University. Elizabeth Ekirapa-Kiracho

Dr Elizabeth Ekirapa-Kiracho is a medical doctor who has specialised in the field of health economics. She is one of the staff members in the department of Health Policy Planning and Management, where she is responsible for teaching and evaluating both under graduate and postgraduate students, as well as coordinating some courses. She has vast experience in managing, conducting, and analysing health related research in a variety of fields including health systems, reproductive health, infectious diseases, and health financing and economic evaluation. Esther Buregyeya

Dr. Esther Buregyeya is currently a Lecturer in the Department Disease Control and Environmental Health-School of Public Health, College of Health Sciences, Makerere University-Kampala. Juliet Ndimwibo Babirye

Dr. Juliet Ndimwibo Babirye MD, MPH is a Lecturer in infectious disease (HIV, Malaria) and non-communicable disease control; which she has done for the last 11 years. She obtained her medical degrees from Makerere University in 1996 and her Master of Public Health by Research in 2005 from University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia. Juliet was a fellow at the Center for AIDS Reasearch at Case Western Reserve University in 2002. She has leadership, clinical and research experience. Kenneth Mugwanya

Dr. Kenneth Mugwanya is Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health at Makerere University College of Health sciences, School of Public Health. Lynn Atuyambe

Lynn Atuyambe, Ph.D., (Public Health Sciences International Health) teaches at the Makerere University School of Public Health-Department of Community Health and Behavioural Sciences. He obtained his doctorate from Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden and Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. His thesis was largely qualitative and all the 4 papers are published in peer reviewed Journals. The thesis is on adolescent reproductive health. Michael Oryema-Lalobo is a senior member of the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health, with long teaching experience in vector-borne disease control and medical parasitology. Moses R. Kamya

Moses R. Kamya, MBChB, MMed, MPH, PhD. is a Professor of Medicine and currently the Chair of the Department of Medicine at Makerere University College of Health Sciences in Kampala, Uganda. He formally trained in internal medicine at Makerere University (1991) and in Epidemiology at the University of California, Berkeley and has a PhD in Biomedical sciences from the University of Antwerp, Belgium. Dr. Nankabirwa Joaniter (MBChB, MSC CEB) is an assistant lecturer in the Department of Medicine (Clinical Epidemiology Unit), Makerere University College of Health Sciences. Nelson K. Sewankambo

Nelson K. Sewankambo MBChB, MSc, M.MED, FAAS, FRCP, LLD (HC), former Dean of Makerere University Medical School, Uganda, a past Principal Makerere University College of Health Sciences and a Professor of internal medicine. Noah Kiwanuka

Dr. Kiwanuka Noah (MBChB, MPH, PhD), currently a Senior Lecturer, is an Infectious Disease Epidemiologist with 17 years experience in the design, conduct and analysis of population-based cohort studies and clinical trials. He is the Director of the Makerere University Clinical Trials Unit (MakCTU) and conducts research in HIV prevention and vaccines. Okwi Andrew Livex

Associate Prof. Okwi has interest in collaborative research for introduction of cervical cancer and sickle cell disease screening programmes at health centres in Uganda including the study of the genetics and molecular mechanisms associated with sickle cell anaemia. Paul Bangirana

Paul Bangirana is Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry and a part time lecturer in the School of Psychology Makerere University. He graduated with a BSc majoring in Psychology from Makerere University in 2000, an MSc in Clinical Psychology from Makerere University in 2003 and joint PhD in Neuropsychology between Makerere University and Karolinska Institutet in 2011. Associate Prof. Philippa Musoke is a board certified Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialist who has been working in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, Makerere University and conducting research with the Makerere University-Johns Hopkins University research collaboration for the last 17 years. She has conducted multiple perinatal HIV prevention clinical trials including the including HIVNET012, single dose nevirapine (NVP) for prevention of mother to child HIV transmission (PMTCT), SWEN and HPTN 046, extending NVP dosing to prevent breast milk transmission. Richard Odoi Adome

Dr. Richard Odoi Adome, a Professor of Pharmacy is the immediate past and pioneer Dean of School of Health Sciences from 2008 to Nov 2010, a position he took up after serving as Head of Pharmacy Makerere University Medical School for over 15 years. He was founder Head of the program of Pharmacy, which began in 1988. Professor Odoi has devoted many years of his professional life to the advancement of pharmacy education, research and capacity development. Stefan Swartling Peterson trained as a public health physician in Sweden, did his MPH at Harvard and PhD from Uppsala University with field-work in the Central African Republic and Tanzania. Stefan has appointments as visiting Professor with Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH), and is Professor of Global Health at Uppsala University and Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. She is interested in community oral health/ epidemiology, primary health care and human resources for health.
