Position: Officer, Grants & Contracts (OGC) - 1
Reports to: Manager Grants & Contracts (MGC)
The Officer Grants and Contracts (OGC) will support the internal management of funded projects by monitoring and reporting financial and programmatic performance will monitor financial activity and external reporting and further ensure compliance to individual sponsor requirements. The OGC will work under the direct supervision of and be evaluated by the MSG.
Honours Degree in relevant field such as Finance, Business or Commerce (B.Com/BBA/BSC (Finance/Accounting)
MBA/MSc (Finance/Accounting), ACCA or CPA (Uganda) is an added advantage.
Required experience and skills
The candidate should have;
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant working experience.
Some experience in project planning and management
Some understanding of budget preparation process.
Sound organizational skills including ability to track/monitor multiple projects simultaneously.
Good report writing and presentation skills; strong interpersonal skills.
Strong computer skills in at least word, PowerPoint, spread sheets and database programmes.
Duties and Responsibilities.
The OGC will be part of the grants management team at MakCHS. Responsibilities will include but will not be necessarily limited to the following;
Assist in responding to the many ad-hoc issues in post contract management.
Assist in the preparation of timely financial reports as required-ensuring excellence in reporting content and format.
Provide support in tracking and reporting of financial performance of grants.
With MakCHS finance staff, extract information from financial management system, as required, customize reporting format and frequency to meet individual project administrators’ needs.
Assist in developing and maintaining a consistent hard copy/electronic filing structure and system for financial information and contracts related to grants.
Support the budget development process for new grants.
Document and maintain record of all updates to the Grants management manual.
Support the MGC in reviewing sub-grantee financial documentation and reporting to ensure compliance.
Provide inputs relating to grants management for the MakCHS Key Performance Indicators (including the analysis of the gap between project income and expenditure)
Support the Development and implementation of Grants Management training courses.
Assist MGC in providing technical assistance in grants management to other organizations.
Any other related duties as specified by the MGC.
