WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT | Quality Improvement in NCD Care: How to Make Things Work

Workshop Description:
The term "Quality Improvement” (QI) is becoming common in health care and research, though often the practice of QI is misunderstood. Through lecture and interactive small group sessions, participants will learn how to perform QI in their own settings and apply QI to NCD care. Participants will also learn how the practice of QI relates to traditional research, implementation research and that in addition to improving outcomes for patients and clinicians, QI can be the topic of manuscripts and publication.

Target Audience:
No experience in Quality Improvement is required. All are welcome. The course will be most beneficial to healthcare clinicians or administrators interested in improving the quality of care in their practice environment.

Workshop Objectives - Participants will be able to:
• Explain the concept of Quality Improvement, and how it differs from traditional medical research
• Understand the QI technique called the Model for Improvement, and how to apply it to NCD care systems (and elsewhere)
• Know how to access additional QI resources following the session to support the creation of a QI project in their own practice environment
