The SLT Unit under the Department of ENT embarked on a campaign to increase awareness of communication disability and SLT as a preventative and rehabilitative service amongst the public sector, the general public and with organizations working with people with communication difficulties; as well as raising the unit’s profile to attract international support and opportunities. The following activities were done in this regard:

• Hosting the official public launch of SLT in Uganda in December 2010
• Hosting a workshop attended by representatives from the Ministries of Health, Education and Public Service, and from academic institutions in Kampala, to establish the way forward to embedding SLT in Uganda’s Health and Education systems.
