Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD) Uganda in collaboration with Makerere University College of Health Sciences within its Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) is organizing an Open Data Kit (ODK) software Training. This course is a full time Four-day face to face training with certification on successful completion.
Data collection remains vital in capturing quality evidence in a given time frame that then translates to analytical representations. With different researchers, organizations, professional, Programs and projects collecting data regularly to evaluate and monitor progress and performance, best practices of data collection are needed than ever to ensure that data gathered is correct, consistent and complete. Mobile Phone Based Data Collection using Open Data Kit (ODK) has been acknowledged world-wide by researchers, non-governmental organizations and relief agencies among other organizations as very useful and convenient data collection method substituting paper based data collection method. This training will provide insights into all the pieces required for a mobile data collection system.
The ODK software course is targeted at masters and PhD students, investigators, research institutes, research Assistants. This training is aimed at introducing and equipping participants with the skills in; Designing and building an ODK Form, Uploading a form to your android phone, Setting up the aggregate server, Mobile data collection using ODK, Submitting completed data to the server and Exporting data from ODK as CSV.
Note: Participants should come with an ANDROID SMART PHONE and a LAPTOP
Two scholarships will be available and awarded as per set eligibility criteria. The application should include a letter of support from the candidate's employer/supervisor committing time for the course. Deadline for submission is 29th September 2017.
Payment subsidized course fee of Uganda shillings 400,000/= or US dollars $115 is payable. This will contribute towards training materials, lunch and refreshments for the whole course.
The ODK course will take place at MUJHU 3 Video Conference Room
