Dear Colleague,
It is our pleasure to invite you to the inaugural Jirani Symposium on Tuberculosis 2026, convened under the theme "Shared Burden, Shared Response."
The symposium is jointly hosted by the Ifakara Health Institute, Makerere University, and the University of Nairobi, bringing together researchers, clinicians, National TB Programme leaders, and policymakers from across East Africa, Africa, and the globe.
'Jirani'-the Kiswahili word for neighbour- expresses the philosophy t the heart of this symposium: that tuberculosis demands not just national responses, but a collective, neighbourly solidarity across borders. Because TB knows no borders, neither should our science.
