The major role of Research and Ethics Committees of Makerere University College of Health Sciences is to safeguard the rights and welfare of all human subjects who volunteer to participate in research projects conducted by staff, students and collaborators of Makerere University College of Health Sciences. In compliance with the laws of Uganda, National and International guidelines of research and institutional policy, all research projects involving human subjects or human material must be reviewed and approved by the Research and Ethics Committees. All biomedical, social and behavioral research projects conducted by the staff, students or collaborators of the MakCHS are subject to the Policies and Procedures of the Research and Ethics Committees.

The eIRB platform intends to improve the ethical review process by facilitating protocol submission and hasten communication between the secretariat and investigators and between the secretariat and IRB members. Your constructive comments and contributions are welcome as we strive to improve the research environment at MakCHS as we build for the future.
