Basing on the One Health concept which encourages human and animal health sectors to work closely in eradicating disease, the Uganda Medical Association and Uganda Veterinary Association are jointly organizing a scientific conference to be held at Hotel Africana on 14-16 February, 2012.
The theme is ├ö├ç┬úDisease Eradication: What will it take?├ö├ç├ÿ and the subthemes are Disease Prevention and Control; Response to Disease Threats; Surveillance and Diagnostics; Policy, Communication and Advocacy; The Environment and Disease; and Social and Economic Dimensions├ö├ç├ÿ.
The purpose for the Conference is to raise awareness about the One Health Approach in eliminating and eradicating disease and to identify areas of collaboration between UMA and UVA.
A total of 500 participants comprising of policy makers, health planners, researchers, clinicians, academicians, law makers, civil society organizations working in the human and health sectors are expected to attend.
