School of Public Health Retreat facilitates sharing and reflection on achievements

Professor William Bazeyo

The School of Public Health recently held a staff retreat to facilitate sharing of work going on at the school as well as identify areas of forming synergies.
The two-day retreat held at Speke Resort Munyonyo was attended by over 40 administrative and academic staff.

The themes of the retreat were;
├ö├ç├│    Evolution and strategic direction of MakSPH
├ö├ç├│    Review of performance of academic programmes
├ö├ç├│    Review of research and services programmes
├ö├ç├│    Review of administration and management
Some of the key aspects of the projects that were hailed included;
├ö├ç├│    Employing students, fellows and former students as research fellows and project coordinators
├ö├ç├│    Community engagement for improved public health outcomes
├ö├ç├│    Increased research outputs like papers
├ö├ç├│    Inter-departmental integration and collaboration

At the closure of the meeting, it was realized that more needs to be done in communicating the work of the School to the various internal and external stakeholders.
In his closing remarks, the Dean Associate Professor William Bazeyo thanked all staff for their hard work and perseverance.
