Professor Nelson Sewankambo, Principal College of Health Sciences, on May 2nd received the Grand Silver Medal of the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. The Grand Silver Medal is awarded to persons who have made outstanding contributions to the improvement of human health research and education, which is in line the mission of Karolinska Institutet.
The jubilee medal was established to mark the bicentenary celebrations of Karolinska Institutet (1810-2010).
Professor Sewankambo’s medal was presented to him by Dr. Clara Gumpert, Karolinska Institutet Dean of Doctoral Education, Vice Provost of International Affairs, at a ceremony held at the College of Health Sciences Quadrangle. MakCHS Communication Officer, Ms. Milly Nattimba talked to Professor Sewankambo about
1) how he feels about the award;
2) the challenges this places on him;
3) the implications of this award to the collaboration between the two institutions.
