The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health Makerere University College of Health Sciences has graduated another batch of trainees in Biostatistics and Principles and Practices of Epidemiology (all Level I). Speaking at the certificate award ceremony, the Chair Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics Dr. Frederick Makumbi, who represented the Dean, Prof. William Bazeyo, implored the trainees to register for Level II when it is offered. He also requested them to market the course to their colleagues in the districts where they work. The students indicated that they gained a lot from the training, but requested that they are encouraged to come back to their trainers for consultation. The training, which was the Third Intake was attended and completed by nine (9); seven (7) on Biostatistics and two (2) on Principles and Practices of Epidemiology. Dr. Makumbi said the Department is expecting more applications for the next intake, especially since tuition fees were reduced from USD 400 to USD 200 for the two-weeks training.
