Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Biomedical Sciences (Uganda) in conjunction with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU, USA) have received a grant from the U.S. NIH - Fogarty International Center to train Ugandans in CWRU’s Basic Science Training Program (BSTP - http://casemed.case.edu/bstp/index.php). This program will train Ugandans in basic science of HIV and its related opportunistic infections especially tuberculosis. It is aimed at building a critical mass of Basic Scientists in Uganda that will be able to foster and create new frontiers of HIV research. Trainees will be expected to develop and maintain a productive career devoted to research in HIV and/or its opportunistic infections.
This program is currently soliciting for applications from suitably qualified Ugandans for Scholarships that will lead to the award of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Training will begin in July 2017. More details are in the attached document.
